Global Pet Expo is SOLD OUT!

With just a few weeks until the doors open to the premier industry event, Global Pet Expo officials are proud to report that all booths on the Show Floor have been sold.

So, what does that mean?

The 2017 Show will feature 1,130 exhibitors, 27% of which are international companies, 3,435 booths and 223 first-time exhibiting companies!

With more than 3,000 new product launches, Global Pet Expo will showcase the latest and greatest products available for all types of pets including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, small animals and horses. The Show has also grown in recent years with added special sections including the “International Pavilions,” “Natural Pet,” “Boutique,” “Everything Aquatic,” and “What’s New!”

We’re Now Taking Submissions for the 2017 Retailer Excellence Awards!

Nominations for the Retailer Excellence Awards, designed to honor outstanding independent pet stores, are now being accepted!

Nominations may be submitted by retailers, manufacturers, reps and distributors.

All ballots must be received by February 10, 2017.

Independent pet stores can be nominated for the following categories:

  1. Best Overall Single-Store Retailer: Recognizes a single-store retailer that excels in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.
  2. Best Overall Multi-Unit Retailer (2-10 stores): Recognizes multi-unit retailers with between two and 10 stores that excel in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.
  3. Best Overall Multi-Unit Retailer (10 or more stores): Recognizes multi-unit retailers with 10 or more stores that excel in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.
  4. Best Live Animal Retailer Award: This award recognizes a retailer that excels overall in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service. Nominees should also provide a clean, safe and professional environment for customers and employees while demonstrating care, concern and knowledge of companion animals.
  5. Best Merchandising Award: Recognizes a retailer that demonstrates outstanding creative techniques to promote sales and services.
  6. Multi-Service Excellence Award: Recognizes a retailer that effectively offers a broad spectrum of services including grooming, training, boarding, etc.
  7. Best Marketing Award:  Honors a retailer that effectively executes sales and promotional techniques to increase sales and customers including the use of advertising, public relations, social media and more.
  8. BestCustomer Service Award: Recognizes a retailer that provides an unmatched level of customer service, demonstrates familiarity with products and services, etc.
  9. Best Store Design Award: Honors a retailer that demonstrates excellence in overall store design including merchandising displays, store layout, curb appeal and more.
  10. Best Community Service Award: Recognizes a retailer that demonstrates fellowship, integrity and a clear demonstration that the store is committed to giving back to the community.

Tips and Tricks to Designing Your Booth

Global Pet Expo 2016 is just five short months away! That time will pass quicker than you know it, which means it’s time to start preparing your materials and planning the design of your booth, if you haven’t already.

Your booth design and features are an extremely important contributing factor to a successful show. Your booth is your opportunity to ‘wow’ attendees and get them to stop, listen and see what you have to offer. You know the saying, ‘don’t judge a book by its cover?’ Well, it’s a saying because it actually happens, especially at a Show that is the size of 13 football fields!

To help you get started, we compiled five tips we think are important to designing an eye-catching booth that will help you stand out in the crowd:

  1. MessagingMessaging

Believe it or not, the people in your booth and their pitch can make or break an interested party. Define your key messages ahead of time and make sure the booth representatives know how to convey them in a clear, concise manner. Treat everyone like they’re important, because you never know when a key player for your business could walk into your booth. You only get one chance to make a first impression!

  1. Theme

Think about the theme of your booth. Make sure it’s cohesive and Theme
consistent with regards to color, language, decorations, etc. Pro tip: extend that branding to your marketing collateral that will be visible in the booth and handed out to buyers as a take-away.

  1. Logo and Signage

Although presentation of your products is important, your signage is what will draw them in. At the pet industry’s largest annual tradeshow, a good-sized, prominent logo can help buyers easily locate your booth from a distance. Upfront signage with key messaging helps attendees easily decide if they want to engage further.

  1. Lighting, Flooring, and DesignLighting

Whether it comes with your booth tools or from Global Pet Expo’s official vendor, GES Exposition Services, great lighting, comfortable flooring and a cohesive design is key to standing out among the thousands of booths on the Show Floor.

  1. Display Rules

Important information about things like canopies, hanging signage, multi-story exhibits and more can be found in the Display Rules. It’s important to make sure your eye-catching booth is compliant with show management guidelines.

Global Pet Expo 2015 Was a Record Setting Year!

More! More! More! Global Pet Expo saw more buyers in attendance, more exhibitors and more booths sold than years past as well as more attendees and more new product launches than ever before!

This year’s total attendance came in at a staggering 15,500 people including 6,061 qualified buyers! Over 1,050 exhibitors brought concept to completion when they took over 3,113 booths and built some seriously impressive exhibits to share their record-breaking 3,000 new pet product launches! And to make for a truly global, Global Pet Expo, 20% of exhibitors and 29% of buyers this year were from countries outside the United States, a clear indication that our show is a key trading opportunity for companies around the world!

More than 230 members of the press…From trade magazines and bloggers to national media outlets like The Huffington Post, CNN, The Chicago Tribune and the popular TV series, Shark Tank: Beyond the Tank, we welcomed some impressive media to this year’s show.

Getting Social on Social Media

Fans took to Twitter roughly 4,000 times using the official show hashtag, #GlobalPetExpo to talk about what’s new and what’s hot on the Show floor. These tweets generated more than 18.9 million impressions and reached more than 6.2 million people. All of this social interaction sent #GlobalPetExpo soaring to the top of Twitter’s most tweeted, earning a spot in the ‘trending topics’ for yet another year.

Clang, clang, clang went the trolley!

For the first time, Global Pet Expo 2015 offered free pre-registration for its Global Pet Expo Academy, resulting in record-setting attendance to its expanded lineup of 29 seminars throughout the three-day Show. It’s possible that the attendees had the energy to make their way to the seminars thanks to the Global Pet Expo Express, a free trolley that carried attendees from one side of the floor to the other – another successful first for the Show.

10 Tips for Live Tweeting at Global Pet Expo

You’ve designed your booth, printed press materials and buyer handouts, packed and shipped booth materials, and you’ve finally made it to the event. Now its time to meet new people, expand your network, and get your brand out there! To help connect with others and draw attention to your products and booth, Tweeting from the Show is a simple and easy option. Brush up on a few quick tips to help steer your Tweeting in the right direction throughout the three-day Show!

  1. Know the hashtag

The official Show hashtag is #GlobalPetExpo and when incorporated into your Tweets, they will automatically be displayed on monitors throughout the show floor and convention center.

  1. Know your booth number!

As obvious as it might sound, including your booth number in Tweets will help guide buyers and media to your booth and products.

  1. Compile important Twitter handles in advance

Prior to the Show, do a little research and compile applicable buyer and media Twitter handles (handles are their account profile names) so you can follow and @ mention them with ease at the Show. We’ve even compiled a media list on our Global Pet Expo twitter page to help make it easier on who to reach out to.

  1. Share intriguing content

Show attendees are not turning to our Twitter monitors to see how you are enjoying that cappuccino (although, we certainly hope you are). They want to see intriguing content, and they want to know where they can find it. Showcase your products, people or your booth as a whole to make those 140 characters count.

  1. Join the conversation

The great thing about social media is that conversations can be a two-way street in real time. So, join the conversation. Talk to those who are actively engaging with you, answer questions and respond to comments in a timely manner.

  1. Invite attendees to your booth

While social engagements are great, nothing beats a meet and greet. Invite attendees to your booth to showcase and demo your products in-person and create lasting contacts. Don’t forget your booth number!

  1. Re-tweet your colleagues

Don’t just simply share content for yourself. If another show attendee has something great to say, favorite or re-tweet the information and increase your social and online presence.

  1. Ensure timely tweets

Our Twitter monitors will be displaying tweets using the official #GlobalPetExpo hashtag all three days The more people who contribute, the less time a tweet will remain visible on the screen. Make sure you tweet consistently all three days to remain seen and heard!

  1. Turn digital content into reality

Continue the conversation outside the walls of the Twittosphere. Ask your followers to come by your booth and chat, meet up on a break or schedule a post-show conversation.

  1. Keep track of conversations and contacts

Not everyone will have time to stop by your booth. Make the most of your social media engagements by keeping track of the names and Twitter handles of those you connect with during the show and follow up with them post-Show!
